Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Description

RAYUS Radiology is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to operate scanners and produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support, ensuring a positive experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care: Screen patients for any precautions or contradictions before exams, using two patient identifiers to ensure accuracy.
  • Imaging Procedures: Explain and prepare patients for Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures, positioning them correctly for optimal results.
  • Equipment Operation: Perform routine and advanced imaging procedures on designated body parts, providing patient support and talking them through the process.
  • Radio Pharmaceuticals: Assess, prepare, record, and administer radio pharmaceuticals according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and departmental policies.
  • Safety and Quality: Demonstrate knowledge of safety-related work behaviors, ensuring a safe work environment and maintaining quality patient care services.
  • Scan Parameters: Adjust Nuclear Medicine scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate.
  • Customer Service: Maintain positive relationships with radiologists, referring customers, and other associates and peers.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately maintain patient records within the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Work Environment: Maintain an orderly and clean work area, promoting good safety habits for patients and coworkers.
  • ACR Toolkit: Maintain the ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure equipment is in good working order, cleaning and disinfecting after each use.
  • HIPAA Compliance: Ensure compliance with all HIPAA guidelines.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Department Support: Perform and record daily quality control procedures on specified equipment, ensuring correct and accurate operation.
  • Department Surveys: Perform daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance with radiation standards and Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations.
  • Contamination Reporting: Report contamination to the Radiation Safety Officer.
  • Protocol Maintenance: Assist with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades.
  • Supply Management: Monitor medical supply inventory and request supplies as necessary.
  • Training and Development: Assist with training new associates, providing resource and technical expertise as applicable.

This is a full-time position with variable eight-hour day shifts, including rotating call. Leadership opportunities are available for those interested.
