About the Position:

As a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor II, you will play a crucial role in delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDTP). Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering treatment programming services to participants and conducting group and/or individual sessions.
  • Effectively implementing scheduled program curriculum and leading face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other therapeutic processes.
  • Engaging participants daily, reinforcing group rules and expectations for participation and completion.
  • Working directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educating them about supportive networks as they return to the community.
  • Reviewing treatment plans, evaluating, and recording treatment progress, as well as documenting visible changes in appearance, behavior, and demeanor of program participants.
  • Maintaining accurate, timely, and confidential participant records and evaluating and documenting the progress of participants assigned to their groups.
  • Completing all delivery documentation requirements, summarizing participants' background, treatment plan, and recovery process outcomes.
  • Preparing accurate, concise, and informative reports, records, and plans that are consistent with Amity standards and comply with applicable clinical and administrative rules.
  • Liaising with transition/reentry staff, planning, and preparing transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities.
  • Working collaboratively with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS, and institution staff, as well as supporting and collaborating with co-faculty, including Supervisors, Directors, and Regional Directors.
  • Participating in monthly, block, cross-training, curriculum training, technical assistance training, or other training as appropriate.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A Master's Degree or above in a social service-related field and licensed by, or registered with, the Board of Behavioral Sciences; or Registered with an AOD certifying organization recognized by DHCS; OR
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a social service-related field and AOD certified; OR
  • An Associate's Degree in social service-related field, AOD certified, and six (6) months of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor; OR
  • AOD certified and one (1) to two (2) years of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor.
