As a key member of our Origination team, you will be responsible for driving renewable natural gas (RNG) opportunity origination activities consistent with our strategic and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Identify, research, and originate RNG development opportunities that support our platform growth across North America.
- Develop and maintain relationships with potential counterparties and industry partners to drive business growth.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to prospective clients, internal executives, and shareholders to showcase our value proposition.
- Build, maintain, and track qualified opportunities through our sales pipeline to ensure timely and effective follow-up.
- Track and respond to requests for proposal for RNG project development to ensure timely and effective delivery.
- Manage internal team activities in pursuit of each opportunity to ensure seamless execution.
- Lead negotiation, in concert with our management and outside legal counsel, of gas rights and other long-term commercial agreements to ensure favorable terms.
- Participate in technical advancement and preliminary engineering of potential solutions to ensure feasibility and viability.
- Work with our project development team to develop detailed budgets and timelines for each opportunity to ensure accurate and realistic projections.
- Participate with our leadership team to raise equity and debt for new projects and investments to drive growth and expansion.
- Travel up to 25-50% of the time to opportunity locations across North America to ensure effective communication and relationship-building.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or business-related fields.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant business development experience, with a proven track record of success in B2B sales.
- Demonstrated expertise in renewable energy and/or complex projects involving substantial investment and construction.
- Direct experience working with public entities (counties, cities, and regional authorities) to drive business growth and development.
- Demonstrated mastery of the nuances of the renewable energy industry, with a strong understanding of carbon accounting, RFS/LCFS programs, renewable gas standards, and renewable gas voluntary attributes.
- Working knowledge of project finance, with the ability to develop and manage complex financial models.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, with intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel and project financial modeling.
- Strong familiarity with the landfill industry, with a working knowledge of wastewater management.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral, with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent proposal development and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate our value proposition to stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and proactively evaluate, address opportunities to drive business growth and development.
- Capable of prioritizing and performing job functions with minimal supervision, with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
- Ability to evaluate site conditions for project constructability, with a strong understanding of technical and logistical considerations.
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex and dynamic business environments.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills, with a strong ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
