Position Summary

Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) is recognized as a premier healthcare institution in the Southeast, known for its exceptional patient care and medical proficiency. Established in 1943, CMC has grown to become the largest hospital in the region, offering a comprehensive array of services to the community and beyond, supported by over 1,100 healthcare professionals across various medical specialties.

As the only Level 1 trauma center in the region and an accredited transplant facility for multiple organ types, CMC also serves as one of North Carolina's five Academic Medical Center Teaching Hospitals, training over 200 physicians in 15 specialties and collaborating with the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Role Responsibilities

This position entails performing various patient care tasks and professional duties to enhance patient treatment and care. Working under the guidance of a radiology technologist, the associate will assist in managing patient flow within the department.

  • Conduct basic diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a radiology technologist.
  • Address patient inquiries regarding procedures and provide necessary assistance.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, ensuring their safety in the absence of the supervising technologist.
  • Acquire medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by authorized personnel.
  • Support physicians and technologists in executing diagnostic examinations across various modalities (e.g., Rad/Fluro, CT, IR, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound), including those requiring contrast media.
  • Retrieve patient orders and manage administrative tasks within the RIS, EMR, or other essential applications related to diagnostic workflows.
  • Assist patients with mobility needs, including restroom assistance and use of bedpans or urinals.
  • Contribute to administrative responsibilities, quality assurance, safety protocols, and compliance measures.

Physical Demands

This role requires moderate to heavy physical exertion, including lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. The associate may need to stand, walk, or sit during regular operations and frequently engage in stretching, bending, twisting, squatting, or kneeling. Exposure to various physical conditions may occur, such as walking on hard surfaces and being near moving equipment. Adherence to radiation safety protocols and infection control measures is essential.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with preliminary coursework toward a certificate or degree in a medical imaging discipline. Clinical experience aligned with the educational program is preferred, and familiarity with medical clerical skills is advantageous.
