Job Overview

The Radiology Technologist Associate is responsible for a range of patient care tasks and professional duties essential for facilitating patient treatment and care. This role operates under the guidance of a licensed radiology technologist and plays a key role in managing patient flow within the radiology department.

Key Responsibilities

Conducts basic diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified radiology technologist. Addresses patient inquiries regarding imaging procedures and provides necessary assistance. Prepares patients for examinations, ensuring their safety and comfort in the absence of the supervising technologist. Secures medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast media as instructed for administration by authorized personnel. Aids physicians and technologists in performing diagnostic imaging exams across various modalities, including Rad/Fluro, CT, IR, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, and Ultrasound, including those requiring contrast media. Manages patient orders and requisitions while assisting with administrative tasks in relevant systems for diagnostic workflows. Provides support to patients with restroom needs and other clinical assistance as required. Engages in administrative responsibilities, ensuring compliance with quality assurance, safety, and regulatory standards.

Physical Demands

This position requires moderate to significant physical effort, including lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. The role involves frequent standing, walking, and sitting, along with the need to stretch, bend, twist, squat, or kneel during daily operations. Exposure to various physical conditions may occur, such as navigating hard surfaces and being near operational equipment. Adherence to radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to ionizing radiation, as well as infection control measures, is essential.

Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with initial coursework toward a certificate or degree in medical imaging. Clinical experience related to the educational program is preferred, along with basic medical clerical skills.
