Position Summary

The Radiology Technologist Associate is responsible for performing various patient care tasks and other professional responsibilities essential for facilitating patient treatment. This role operates under the guidance of a licensed radiology technologist and aids in managing patient flow within the department.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conducts basic diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a radiology technologist.
  2. Addresses patient inquiries regarding procedures and provides assistance as needed.
  3. Prepares patients for examinations, ensuring their safety in the absence of the supervising technologist.
  4. Secures medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as instructed for administration by qualified personnel.
  5. Supports physicians and technologists in executing diagnostic examinations across various modalities, including Rad/Fluro, CT, IR, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, and Ultrasound, particularly those involving contrast media.
  6. Retrieves patient orders and requisitions while assisting with administrative tasks in the RIS, EMR, or other essential applications for diagnostic workflows.
  7. Provides assistance to patients with restroom needs, bedpans, urinals, and other clinical support requirements.
  8. Contributes to administrative duties, quality assurance, safety protocols, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Physical Demands

This position requires moderate to heavy physical exertion, including lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. The role involves frequent standing, walking, and sitting, with occasional stretching, bending, twisting, squatting, or kneeling as part of daily operations. The individual may encounter various physical conditions, such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, and proximity to moving equipment. Adherence to radiation safety guidelines to minimize exposure to ionizing radiation, as well as compliance with MRI safety and infection control protocols, is mandatory.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with preliminary coursework towards a certificate or degree in a medical imaging discipline. Clinical experience related to the educational program is essential, and medical clerical skills are preferred.
