Cafeteria Operations Assistant

BACKGROUND

Carmen Schools of Science and Technology (Carmen) is a distinguished public charter school network established in 2007, dedicated to providing exceptional educational experiences for over 2,300 students from K4 to 12th grade across multiple campuses in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. POSITION SUMMARY

The Cafeteria Operations Assistant is responsible for the preparation and service of meals to students and staff in a friendly and efficient manner. This role involves organizing workstations, adhering to health and safety regulations, and demonstrating proficiency in the operation of kitchen equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and comprehend written menus and schedules.
  • Basic proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Understanding of large-scale food preparation techniques.
  • Familiarity with food preparation equipment and utensils.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective relationships with colleagues and students.
  • Capability to maintain composure in a dynamic work environment.
  • Polite and courteous communication with all individuals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to personal hygiene and sanitation standards.
  • Prepare and monitor kitchen equipment at the start of each shift.
  • Follow instructions for food preparation accurately.
  • Serve meals and manage cashiering duties effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of meals served.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of serving areas.
  • Monitor food temperatures and equipment functionality.
  • Provide courteous service to all staff and customers.
  • Perform dishwashing and cleaning duties as required.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of dining areas.
  • Manage inventory by receiving and organizing supplies.
  • Engage in training opportunities for skill enhancement.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sanitation practices consistently.
  • Exhibit reliability and professionalism in all tasks.
  • Prepare for the next day’s operations.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy work environment.
  • Participate in promotional events and activities for the community.
  • Adhere to scheduled work hours.
  • Perform additional related duties as necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
