Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Duties:
The Pathologists' Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting pathologists with surgical pathology services. Under the guidance of a pathologist, you will independently manage tasks related to the examination and preparation of surgical specimens.
Responsibilities Include:
- Streamlining workflow in the frozen section and gross examination areas.
- Collaborating with pathologists to prioritize specimen processing.
- Following instructions for grossing techniques and quality control.
- Sharing knowledge and information with fellow pathologists' assistants to enhance productivity.
- Triage and document findings of surgical specimens accurately.
- Selecting and preparing tissue samples for microscopic analysis.
- Executing specialized procedures, including frozen sections and decalcification.
- Maintaining detailed records of specimen processing and dictation.
- Documenting specimen samples through photography for educational purposes.
- Performing additional related duties as required.
