Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site position for a Head Start Teacher. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in delivering the educational curriculum, ensuring a safe and nurturing classroom atmosphere, and conducting student assessments. Responsibilities include educational facilitation, effective communication, and ongoing training activities.

Position Highlights

  • Two positions available: one in Santa Barbara and one in Carpinteria (focused on infant/toddler education)
  • Initial contract for six months, with potential for extension based on performance
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, with varying hours between 7 AM and 5 PM, totaling eight-hour shifts
  • Engagement with a mixed population of general and special education children aged 0-5 years
  • Each classroom is staffed with two teachers and a paraprofessional, along with additional support personnel
  • The curriculum is established, with flexibility for modifications as needed
  • Compensation includes travel pay for eligible candidates or a local hourly rate

Qualifications Required

  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Possession of a Child Development Permit or an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, including 12 units in ECE/CD
