Position Overview

The City of Lynchburg is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace. The Human Services Department is in search of a Senior Family Services Coordinator to join the child welfare In-Home and Prevention Unit. This pivotal role will focus on case management for families facing significant challenges, particularly those at high risk.

Key Responsibilities

The selected individual will be responsible for:

• Leading case management efforts for families at risk of child placement outside the home.
• Identifying family needs and connecting them with external resources to mitigate safety concerns.
• Maintaining comprehensive case documentation and preparing detailed reports.
• Providing testimony in legal proceedings as necessary.
• Facilitating access to services addressing mental health, domestic violence, and substance use disorders.
• Supporting relative caregivers and developing strategies to prevent family separation.
• Collaborating with various community stakeholders, including legal and educational entities.

Essential Duties

• Setting performance standards for the unit and ensuring quality service delivery.
• Supervising staff and implementing human resource practices as directed.
• Engaging in problem-solving with supervisory teams to ensure operational efficiency.
• Conducting client interviews to assess needs and formulate service plans.
• Monitoring case progress and ensuring timely closure of cases.
• Providing training and guidance to community partners on child welfare services.
• Participating in multi-disciplinary teams and representing the agency in various forums.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in a human services field and a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
• Experience in Child Protective Services is required.
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Successful completion of background checks and training as required.
