Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Fiscal Technician to join our team. As a Fiscal Technician, you will play a critical role in providing financial support and services to our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide financial support and services, including maintaining, calculating, researching, validating, and performing data input for various accounting transactions.
  • Assist with accounts payable, including receiving, verifying, and reconciling invoices, and performing data entry.
  • Support SPCC direct charge and procurement activities, including preparing requisitions and purchase orders, receiving and verifying cardholders' monthly SPCC packages, and performing data entry.
  • Process travel authorizations and reimbursements, including receiving, reviewing, and performing data entry.
  • Assist with accounts receivable, including receiving, reviewing, and performing data entry of accounts receivable documentation.
  • Perform data entry of receipts and issues for department inventory into IMS and Cardinal.
  • Verify daily transactions and documentation from previous day against the IMS daily activity register to confirm accuracy and completeness of transactions.
  • Perform administrative duties, including assisting with special projects, opening and distributing mail, and serving as a receptionist or other administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic accounting and business principles sufficient to monitor and analyze data.
  • Knowledge of office and program support activities.
  • Experience performing data entry into automated financial systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers and to work independently or as a team member.
  • Experience interpreting and applying basic policy, procedures, and implementing procedural and transactional changes.
  • Experience preparing financial reports and running queries.
  • Experience with file management, including purging and disposing of files in accordance with records retention guidelines and schedules.
  • Ability to report during emergency operations.
  • Skill in performing basic math calculations.
  • Skill in the use of computers and software applications, including automated inventory software and Microsoft Office programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting, internal controls, inventory, and compliance.
  • Knowledge and experience processing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Knowledge and experience performing account reconciliations and tracking time and attendance.
