The starting compensation for the Pediatric Care Support Specialist is $22.50 per hour, with potential for a higher rate based on experience.

This role involves working Casual hours every two weeks across Day, Evening, and Night shifts. Please note that this position does not qualify for benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

The Pediatric Care Support Specialist will have the flexibility to work in various departments within the pediatric facility, including critical care, transplant, oncology, and cardiology.

This hybrid role encompasses both patient care and administrative responsibilities, allowing you to provide direct support to patients while also managing essential unit operations. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering patient care, including assistance with personal hygiene, monitoring vital signs, facilitating daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding patients.
  • Overseeing unit desk functions, such as answering calls, processing admissions, managing discharge and transfer documentation, transcribing medical orders, organizing patient charts, and coordinating tests.
  • Preparing and maintaining patient rooms to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Managing inventory by ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
  • Performing EKGs and holter monitor placements, responding to the specific needs of different units.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • One year of experience as a Nursing Station Technician within a pediatric healthcare setting.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification is mandatory. Participants in the OnTrack program must obtain this certification upon completion.
AND one or more of the following:

Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview-sponsored Nursing Assistant program.

OR

Six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term care, home care, or acute care environment. Relevant roles may include Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, or Emergency Room Technician.

OR

Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, having completed at least one semester of clinical rotation.

OR

Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not necessary if transferring to another Nursing Assistant or related position.
