Job Description:

The CT Scan Technologist is responsible for performing computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Performs complex CT procedures, utilizing professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining patient's clinical history for procedures, ensuring information is documented and scanned into the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  2. Prepares, screens, and reviews the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with the patient and/or family member and scans it into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  3. Identifies and/or administers contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  4. Reviews the patient prescription to verify appropriateness of the exam and communicates with the Radiologist and Referring Physician to obtain additional clinical information or a new prescription.
  5. Responsible for calling physicians to clarify the prescription in accordance with the appropriate CT protocols.
  6. Responsible for verifying insurance authorized exam script and sending exam modification forms to Finance for insurance re-verification.
  7. Responsible for obtaining outside studies (CD) and scheduling them in the EHR so the CD and reports are available in PACS to be compared by Radiologists.
  8. Responsible for providing exam copies to the patient and requesting physician and/or family member.
  9. Evaluates radiographs using PACS to ensure that radiographs contain proper identification and are of diagnostic value.
  10. Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from the medical record, significant others, and healthcare providers to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License.
  • ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Preferred Requirements:
  • ARRT certified R.T. (CT) license preferred.
