Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Electrical Engineering Lead.
  • Demonstrate leadership within a collaborative manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Conduct site visits to provide on-the-ground leadership and engineering support.
  • Define design criteria, execute design calculations, and develop control schematics and specifications.
  • Assess manufacturer documentation for compliance with established specifications.
  • Offer technical assistance to the construction management team and contractors.
  • Perform field inspections to verify installations align with design documents.
  • Draft design scopes, manage work tenders, and prepare cost estimates.
  • Conduct pre-start health and safety evaluations.
  • Create equipment specifications and oversee equipment inspections upon delivery.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and team members to nurture strong working relationships.
  • Engage in cooperative daily interactions with the extended project team.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to work on-site as required.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the capability to travel as necessary.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation is preferred.
  • Team-oriented approach.
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing, process, and utilities sectors.
  • Expertise in electrical engineering and design for power distribution systems.
  • Proficient in electrical engineering and design for control systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical maintenance principles.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards.
  • Competent in AutoCAD.
  • Experience with safety instrumented levels (SIL) and machinery safeguarding.
  • Ability to conduct Short-Circuit Current Rating (SCCR) analysis is advantageous.
  • Proven capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Project management and coordination capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Systems analysis skills to assess operational impacts.
  • Experience in capital cost estimation.
  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming is a plus.

Safety Standards:
Familiarity with CSA, IEC, National Electrical Code, and EEA Standards is essential.

Hazardous Area Knowledge:
Understanding of CEC, OESC, ATEX, IEC, and NFPA codes and standards is required.
