Job Overview

The Director of Operations role at our client's Nashville, IL facility is a critical position that oversees the blending and packaging of premium teas and herbs. This position ensures optimal customer service and embodies the values and culture of the company, including integrity, collaboration, communication, social responsibility, innovation, education, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate efforts of the Nashville team to manufacture teas and herbs efficiently, meeting cost and quality standards.
  • Instill a quality mindset and culture for a premium brand, ensuring lean manufacturing principles are applied.
  • Reduce customer complaints and quality-related issues.
  • Lead change efforts to foster a culture of collaboration, teamwork, transparency, and customer focus.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and R&D to support new product innovations and speed to market.
  • Improve efficiency through metrics-based leadership and goal setting.
  • Enhance hiring and retention strategies for hourly employees through robust training programs and collaborative leadership.
  • Provide technical leadership to address packaging challenges of problematic teas.
  • Coach and develop team members to ensure readiness for succession.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance and adherence to safe work practices.
  • Optimize lean manufacturing and statistical process controls for effective cost and quality management.
Requirements:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Business-related discipline preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years in food and beverage manufacturing with progressive experience.
    • HACCP and SQF trained, familiar with certification protocols such as Organic and Gluten-Free.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to lead a team to achieve strategic goals.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Access or Excel, with advanced data analysis skills.
    • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
    • Hands-on leadership style with a results-driven approach.
  • Certifications:
    • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Knowledge:
    • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
    • Familiarity with certification protocols such as Organic and Gluten-Free.
    • Knowledge of HACCP and SQF training.
