Position Overview
The Space Mission Engineering Program Office is on the lookout for a seasoned expert in remote sensing and space domain awareness (SDA) to spearhead initiatives that enhance national security in the space sector. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of remote sensing technologies and SDA methodologies, along with experience in community engagement within the SDA domain.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible difference in national security through the execution of critical space missions.
On a typical day, your responsibilities may include:
- Conducting modeling and simulation of remote sensing and SDA systems to guide government strategies and acquisitions.
- Leading cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
- Delivering projects on schedule and within budget constraints.
- Building relationships with stakeholders in the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community.
- Transforming complex technical data into actionable insights.
- Representing Sandia Inc within the SDA community.
- Collaborating across various departments to leverage expertise.
- Developing innovative solutions to complex challenges.
- Addressing urgent customer needs with effective results.
- Collaborating with senior management to shape strategic direction.
- Identifying new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
- Promoting a culture of innovation and encouraging exploration of new SDA projects.
- Mentoring junior team members.
- Working autonomously with minimal supervision.
The salary range for this position is $109,300 - $217,400, contingent upon the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree with five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, such as:
- An Associate's degree plus nine years of relevant experience; or
- A High School Diploma plus thirteen years of relevant experience.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance with SCI access.
Ideal candidates will also possess:
- A graduate degree in Engineering or a closely related field involving independent research.
- An active DOE Q or DOD TS security clearance.
- Experience collaborating with National Security Enterprise laboratories.
- Expertise in engineering design and simulation projects.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
- Active SCI clearance.
- Expertise in space situational awareness.
- Experience with satellite payloads and aerospace programs.
- Familiarity with image processing algorithms.
- Experience in modeling and simulation of sensor performance.
- Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Five years of technical experience in SDA.
- Project leadership experience with a track record of delivering results.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain customer relationships.
- Familiarity with DOD and IC space organizations.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, STK, and/or MATLAB.
- Knowledge of various sensing and communication technologies.
