Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will play a vital role in supporting the development of groundbreaking operational space missions for the Space RCO. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership and problem-solving skills, delivering exceptional results within a dynamic and high-stakes environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the formulation of requirements, design, and analysis of complex optical systems.
  • Leading or contributing to technical projects that necessitate engineering oversight.
  • Ensuring timely completion of tasks within budgetary limits.
  • Providing insights to the government client regarding potential risks to performance and schedules.
  • Maintaining high-quality standards for project deliverables.
  • Conducting engineering research and design development in alignment with specifications.
  • Overseeing the technical aspects of major projects.
  • Collaborating with various partners to ensure support for delivery milestones.
  • Tracking design trades and their impacts on requirements.
  • Initiating and supervising requirements development for complex programs.
  • Offering strategic advice and technical expertise to project teams.
  • Conducting detailed analyses and recommending solutions for mission-critical challenges.
  • Communicating technical information clearly and accurately.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills:

  • A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in the defense or intelligence sectors.
  • Expertise in the development and deployment of EO systems.
  • Familiarity with optical structures, coatings, and large-scale optical system integration.
  • Proficient in optical design and analysis tools.
  • Experience in defense program management.

Preferred Skills:

  • Fifteen years of relevant experience.
  • Experience providing System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA).
  • Background in rapid prototyping and operational transition.
  • Knowledge of Adaptive Optics techniques.
  • Experience with high-level acquisition programs.
  • Expertise in planning and executing optical system assembly and testing.

Education:

  • A degree in engineering or optics from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Relevant advanced degrees are preferred.

Clearance:

  • Active TOP SECRET clearance with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information.
  • Experience in a SAP or SCI environment is required.
  • Candidates must maintain their clearance as a condition of employment.

Work Environment:

  • This is a full-time position that may require travel up to 25% within the continental United States.
