Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Forensic Nurse Examiner to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a Forensic Nurse Examiner, you will play a critical role in providing expert care and support to victims of sexual assault and other violent crimes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough and compassionate forensic examinations of victims of sexual assault and other violent crimes.
  • Collect and process evidence, including medical-forensic exams, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, and photographic documentation.
  • Provide expert testimony in court as needed.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and advocacy groups to ensure victims receive the support and resources they need.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Working Conditions

This is a day shift position that can be worked as 3 12 hour shifts/week or 4 10 hour shifts/week. The University of Virginia offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including a $25,000 sign on bonus for a 3 year employment commitment and relocation assistance may be available.
