About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Forensic Nurse Examiner to join our team at UVA Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in providing expert care to survivors of sexual assault and other forms of violence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough and compassionate forensic examinations of victims of sexual assault and other forms of violence
  • Provide medical-forensic exams, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, and referrals for appropriate follow-up support
  • Communicate effectively with survivors and their families regarding evidence collection, treatment recommendations, and reporting to law enforcement
  • Participate in mandatory reporting of child abuse and other forms of abuse/assault as defined by law
  • Provide expert testimony as needed in court
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and advocacy groups as needed
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire
  • 1 year of relevant experience
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification
