Job Title: Forensic Nurse Examiner

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Forensic Nurse Examiner to join our team at Virginia Jobs. As a Forensic Nurse Examiner, you will play a critical role in providing expert care to victims of sexual assault and other violent crimes.

Job Summary:

The Forensic Nurse Examiner will conduct thorough and compassionate medical-forensic exams, provide prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, and document all findings. You will also communicate with survivors and their families, provide education on exam procedures, and facilitate referrals for follow-up support.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct medical-forensic exams for victims of sexual assault and other violent crimes
  • Provide prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections
  • Document all findings and communicate with survivors and their families
  • Facilitate referrals for follow-up support
  • Participate in mandatory reporting of child abuse and other abuse/assault as defined by law
  • Provide expert testimony as needed in court
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and advocacy groups as needed
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire
  • 1 year of relevant experience
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification
Working Conditions:

This position requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent travel, and bending/stooping. You may be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
