Job Title: Forensic Nurse Examiner

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Forensic Nurse Examiner to join our team at UVA Health. As a Forensic Nurse Examiner, you will play a critical role in providing expert care to victims of sexual assault and other violent crimes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough and compassionate forensic examinations of victims of sexual assault and other violent crimes.
  • Collect and process evidence, including medical-forensic exams, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, and photographic documentation.
  • Provide patient-centered care and education to victims, including information on exam procedures, treatment options, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and advocacy groups to ensure seamless care and support for victims.
  • Participate in mandatory reporting of child abuse and other abuse/assault as defined by law.
  • Provide expert testimony in court as needed.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
