POSITION SUMMARY:
The Equity and Inclusion Coordinator will play a pivotal role in promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives, ensuring that all district programs, services, and events are accessible and appealing to a wide array of audiences.
This role will also offer strategic guidance to address the unique needs of diverse communities within the city.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and nurture connections within various communities to support outreach efforts for engaging families, community leaders, and health and social service professionals with educational offerings.
- Promote all district programs and services through community engagement and presentations, utilizing literature, printed materials, and participation in community events.
- Facilitate educational initiatives in collaboration with the Family and Community Engagement (FACE) department.
- Identify, train, and supervise outreach speakers and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
- Engage and cultivate potential participants and volunteers for events aimed at enhancing student outcomes, including cultural celebrations and awareness months.
- Act as a liaison between the Executive Director of Innovation, FACE, and the Communications Division, providing insights to reach underserved populations and address unmet needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience; experience in the private sector will be considered.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential; bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation abilities.
- Experience in building strategic partnerships with local community organizations and key stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, as well as social media platforms.
- Willingness to travel locally as required to fulfill job responsibilities.
