Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our North Dakota team. This role will involve preparing proposals for complex projects, developing and executing geotechnical scopes, and reviewing engineering work of others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute geotechnical scopes for moderate to complex projects.
  • Review and provide feedback on engineering work of others.
  • Perform engineering analysis using company and industry methodologies.
  • Make geotechnical recommendations and prepare engineering reports for senior review.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Perform routine aspects of civil engineering assignments, including familiarity with company programs, staff, and operating procedures.
  • Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians within the discipline group.
  • Review and recommend changes to drawings supplied by vendors, clients, engineers, and architects.
  • Identify complex problems, possible solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve.
  • Manage project teams, including engineering and field support personnel.
  • Oversee and train junior-level staff, and supervise and mentor as needed.
  • Compile engineering calculations using standard formulas and computer software.
  • Prepare field reports documenting contractors' work methods, test results, and interpretations.
  • Work within established procedures and protocols, and be aware of risks associated with recommendations.
  • Develop an understanding of Braun Intertec services and be able to market them to clients.
  • Comply with corporate practices, health and safety policies, and complete required safety training.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering and 6+ years of experience.
  • Requires Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in North Dakota or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Requires creative and innovative thinking to bring successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-department problems.
  • Ability to qualify professional opinions and recommendations of less experienced engineers, applying engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to delegate and develop direct reports.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
  • Ability to develop and progress multiple positive client relationships.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Action-oriented, effectively/efficiently manage time, and able to learn on the fly.
Licensing or Certification Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check as required.
  • PE Certification.
