Job Overview

Position Objective:
As a Senior Land Surveyor at KLJ Engineering LLC, you will collaborate with both novice and seasoned surveying professionals, alongside other essential support personnel, to deliver comprehensive surveying services for various client projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the technical aspects of projects align with KLJ's quality standards, ultimately enhancing our commitment to exceptional client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guide, evaluate, and assist the surveying team by spearheading projects, ensuring adherence to best practices and methodologies.
  • Organize, plan, and oversee project components while managing multiple client engagements.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with project teams, clients, and the general public.
  • Coordinate, prioritize, assign, and supervise the activities of field survey crews.
  • Oversee several project teams in field operations.
  • Guarantee compliance with KLJ's safety protocols.
  • Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills.
Essential Duties
  • Conduct surveys to accurately ascertain the locations and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapping, land division, and other surveying-related objectives.
  • Engage in construction staking, planning, documentation, mapping, local geography analysis, and legal research.
  • Ensure the precision of documents and deliverables produced by the team.
  • Provide instruction, training, and mentorship to crew members.
  • Collaborate with project team members and clients to lead, prepare, and participate in project proposals and discussions.
  • Effectively manage and deliver projects within established timelines and budgets.
Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying or equivalent field experience.
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification is required.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to operate motorized vehicles are essential.
Work Environment

This role necessitates a commitment of 40+ hours per week, with approximately 95% of the time spent in the field and 5% in an office setting.

  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.

  • Be capable of traversing uneven terrain for up to ten miles daily.
  • Frequently lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.

Specific vision capabilities required for this position include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
