Job Overview

Position Objective: As a Senior Land Surveyor at KLJ Engineering LLC, you will collaborate with both novice and seasoned surveying professionals, alongside essential support personnel, to deliver comprehensive surveying services for client projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the technical aspects of projects align with KLJ's stringent quality standards, ultimately enhancing our commitment to providing an outstanding client experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor the survey team, ensuring adherence to best practices and methodologies.
  • Oversee project planning, organization, and management, while handling multiple client accounts.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with project teams, clients, and the public.
  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of field survey crews, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Manage various project teams in field operations.
  • Uphold KLJ's safety protocols and standards.
  • Utilize strong communication skills to facilitate project success.
Essential Functions
  • Conduct surveys to accurately determine locations and measurements for construction, mapping, land division, and other related purposes.
  • Engage in construction staking, planning, and the preparation of reports, maps, and legal documents.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all documents and deliverables produced by the team.
  • Provide training and guidance to crew members.
  • Collaborate with project teams and clients to develop and present project proposals.
  • Effectively manage project timelines and budgets.
Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Possession of a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to operate motor vehicles are required.
Work Environment

This role demands a commitment of 40+ hours per week, with the majority of time spent in the field and a smaller portion in the office.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position include:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Use of hands for handling tools and equipment, as well as reaching with arms.
  • Clear communication abilities.

Additionally, candidates must:

  • Be capable of traversing uneven terrain for extended distances.
  • Lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 75 pounds.

Vision requirements include the ability to see close, distinguish colors, perceive depth, and adjust focus as necessary.
