SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the Registered Nurse is to oversee the provision of nursing care to assigned residents, ensuring that assessment, monitoring, detection, and prevention measures are effectively implemented to deliver optimal care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the clinical status of assigned residents and relevant physician orders.
- Communicates effectively regarding the status of residents to appropriate team members.
- Conducts nursing duties, including:
- Performing physical examinations and comprehensive nursing assessments, along with accurate documentation of clinical findings.
- Administering prescribed medications and monitoring for potential side effects.
- Collaborating with Respiratory Care staff to ensure the functionality of life support equipment.
- Notifying physicians and department heads of any changes in resident conditions.
- Administering nourishment and hydration as per medical directives.
- Providing personal hygiene assistance and ensuring residents are well-groomed.
- Measuring and recording vital signs.
- Positioning residents according to established care plans and ensuring regular repositioning throughout the shift.
- Participating in care planning and contributing to the overall management of resident care.
- Completing assigned tasks while sharing responsibility for comprehensive resident care.
- Executing respiratory care procedures as trained.
- Assuming charge nurse duties in the absence of the RN Supervisor.
- Maintaining accurate medical records and departmental documentation.
- Transporting residents as necessary.
- Performing equipment maintenance and reporting malfunctions.
- Participating in interdisciplinary meetings and committees as required.
- Adhering to infection control protocols.
- Managing residents' daily schedules effectively.
- Contributing to discharge planning and family education initiatives.
- Engaging in collaborative practices to address the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of residents.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Ability to read and interpret safety guidelines, operational instructions, and procedural manuals. Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence. Capable of effective verbal communication in group settings.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
Assists in supervising LPNs and CNAs, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and relevant laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating staff performance.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Valid Florida Driver's License
Valid Florida RN License
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of an accredited Nursing Program and three to six months of relevant experience or training.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively. Accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform necessary functions. Experience with pediatric populations and individuals with disabilities is preferred.
