Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer/Echo Tech to join our team at Dignity Health Medical Foundation. As a key member of our Cardiology clinic, you will perform complex cardiac diagnostic procedures, including echos and stress tests, on a variety of patient populations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform cardiac diagnostic procedures, including echos and stress tests, with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Explain procedures to patients, prepare them for testing, and calibrate equipment as needed.
  • Prioritize studies by patient status and age of order, ensuring timely completion of tests.
  • Prepare test results for physician interpretation, providing all pertinent patient data and accurately recording measurements.
  • Copy and disperse study results to appropriate areas, maintaining accurate records.
  • Initiate charges for patient accounts, ensuring timely billing and revenue collection.
  • Maintain proper care of equipment, including cleaning and restocking, to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Notify clinic leadership of equipment failures, ensuring timely repair and minimal disruption to services.
  • Assist with procedures and various duties of EKG technicians between scheduled tests.
Qualifications
  • Completion of an Echo Technician program required.
  • Substantial knowledge of EKG procedures and equipment, basic cardiac and human body anatomy, basic interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, general filing procedures, electrical safety standards, aseptic techniques, typing and office skills, proper phone techniques.
  • Ability to perform quality echocardiographic studies, including 2D color flow mapping and TEE procedures, on all patient age groups.
  • Ability to work with computer billing systems, establish and maintain good working relationships with hospital personnel, act courteously and with tact in dealing with patients, visitors, and the public, explain procedures to patients, maintain patient confidentiality, follow established procedures, work effectively under stress, adjust priorities as circumstances require, organize work assignments, maintain accurate and complete records, calm and reassure distressed patients, work with minimal supervision, respond effectively in emergency situations, read and comprehend technical instructions, and possess effective oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year experience as Echo/Stress Tech preferred.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Philips IE33 and Epiq Ultrasound Machines helpful.
