Job Title: Deputy Manager - Open Records

Job Summary:

The GeorgiaGov is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team in the Open Records Unit. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate response to open records requests, while also providing administrative supervision and support to the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist and support the Attorney Manager in handling a high volume of open records requests.
  • Provide excellent analysis and working knowledge of the Georgia Open Records Act.
  • Oversee and assist with locating, gathering, and tracking of requested records from the Department's statewide divisions and units.
  • Undertake and support training of Unit employees.
  • Perform daily checks of subordinate work for managing the number and complexity of requests expected of subordinates, work productivity, and reassignment of requests based upon proficiency and skill levels.
  • Oversee administrative supervision, including review of employee attendance, leave requests, timesheets, and oversight of phone and mail rotation systems, as needed.
  • Conduct accurate legal analysis to ensure Unit redaction of all information that is protected according to state and federal law.
  • Respond to and provide effective problem-solving practices and skilled communications for difficult requests and difficult requestors.
  • Serve as a resource for complaints of internal and external customers concerning open records issues.
  • Assist in fostering and maintaining a respectful and inclusive team environment.
  • Handle more complex and sensitive requests, non-party discovery, and litigation subpoenas, while identifying potential problems and seeking any necessary guidance and protection afforded by the Georgia Attorney General's Office.
