SUMMARY

The City of Atlanta's Department of Human Resources (DHR) is in search of a skilled Project Manager II with expertise in managing medium to large-scale projects, strategic planning, process enhancement, and partnership cultivation. This position reports directly to the Deputy HR Commissioner and is pivotal in driving significant progress and measurable outcomes for DHR's strategic priorities.

The Project Manager II will concentrate on high-impact, short-term projects aligned with DHR's key initiatives. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with HR personnel across the department, citywide, and with external partners to pinpoint challenges, explore strategic opportunities, and devise effective implementation strategies for successful outcomes.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees medium to large-scale HR initiatives, leading project meetings, facilitating team collaboration, managing project scope, timelines, budgets, and ensuring timely project completion;
  • Employs project management tools and data analysis to identify areas for improvement and opportunities;
  • Formulates performance enhancement recommendations and implementation strategies within defined constraints;
  • Establishes objectives and develops action-oriented plans to achieve departmental goals;
  • Collaborates with the department on strategic initiatives and implementation strategies for HR projects;
  • Produces clear and concise documentation for effective communication of issues and recommendations;
  • Delivers updates and results on HR projects;
  • Supports DHR's strategic framework and promotes best practices for innovation and performance improvement;
  • Builds and sustains effective relationships with various stakeholders;
  • Proactively identifies solutions;
  • Completes assigned responsibilities;

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate excels in a dynamic, collaborative work environment and demonstrates a successful track record in project management, process enhancement, and partnership development. We seek professionals with exceptional strategic and interpersonal skills.

Minimum qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in business/public administration, Finance, Public Policy, Human Resources Management, or related fields;
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in project management, business analysis, finance, operations, or consulting;
  • Demonstrated success in delivering medium to large-scale projects on schedule and within budget;
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Master's degree in Business/Public Administration, Finance, Public Policy, Industrial Engineering, or relevant fields;
  • 6-8 years of experience in project management, business analysis, finance, operations, or consulting;
  • Experience in management, strategy, operational consulting, and Human resources projects.
