Job Summary

The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a two-year Research Scientist position in CME. This position is renewable depending on performance and funding. The individual is expected to conduct research funded by state, federal, and private agencies; publish research findings in peer-reviewed publications; develop intellectual property; guide and oversee the work of graduate students and post-doctorates; and participate in activities that serve the profession.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in protein language models for biomedical research
  • Develop and implement modern machine learning and deep learning methods
  • Design and develop bioinformatics data analytics tools and databases
  • Work with High Performance Computers, Cloud storage, and GPU programming
  • Collaborate with the team to achieve research goals
Requirements
  • Strong publication record in machine learning and protein research
  • Experience in management and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proactive team player
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in developing and implementing deep learning algorithms
  • Familiarity with Amazon web services (AWS) resources
  • Experience in High Performance Computing and Cloud storage
