Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Participatory Budgeting Borough Director to join our team at the City of New York. As a key member of our Civic Engagement Commission, you will play a critical role in supporting the launch and implementation of a citywide participatory budgeting program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for Phase 1 (Idea Generation) and Phase 3 (Voting) of the participatory budgeting process, ensuring the successful adoption of community-driven initiatives.
  • Lead the design and creation of materials, including training curricula, to promote broad participation in the PB process among diverse stakeholders.
  • Supervise a team of Borough Coordinators, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful implementation of contracted CBO participatory budgeting deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, community providers, and partners to ensure effective collaboration and communication throughout the PB process.
  • Work closely with the Outreach Director to build collaboration and provide training to staff on communicating PB program goals to partners.
  • Coordinate with senior leadership and team members to develop and implement a non-contracted partner strategy to expand engagement in participatory budgeting.
  • Support the ongoing development of coherent outreach and engagement strategies that integrate CEC programs and initiatives with PB.
Requirements
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position.
  • Or education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.
