Director of Social Services

The Director of Manhattan North Borough Office is responsible for the overall direction and management of the borough office's administrative and programmatic operations. This includes overseeing the delivery of Adult Protective Services (APS) to clients, managing staff, and coordinating with other organizational components.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of APS services, including Undercare, Assessment, Eviction, and Preventive Service programs.
- Manage staff engaged in client case processing and eligibility determination.
- Provide administrative leadership and guidance to Borough Office Deputy Director and supervisory personnel.
- Coordinate borough office functions with other organizational components.
- Oversee the Preventive Service Program and Eviction Units.
- Identify performance deficiencies and implement staff training.
- Prepare comprehensive statistical reports on borough office activities.
- Analyze, monitor, and evaluate existing programs, policies, and reports.
- Maintain liaison and cooperative relationships with public, private, and community agencies.
- Prepare responses to audits, studies, and surveys.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of progressively responsible experience, including one year at the administrative or managerial level in a large governmental agency, business firm, civic, or community organization operating in the area of social services.
Preferred Skills
- Critical assessment of operational issues.
- Working experience with APS and providing services to high-risk populations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective leadership ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of HRA systems, including APSNet, WMS, HRA Viewer, and Lexis-Nexis.
