Key Responsibilities
- Accurately register patients, create medical records, and verify insurance information using complex applications and electronic eligibility tools.
- Master insurance coverage, benefits, rules, and regulations to ensure accurate information and fulfillment of requirements for services.
- Verify and allocate insurance plans, execute patient estimates, and educate guarantors regarding charges and out-of-pocket liability.
- Successfully collect and post co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and prior balances due from patients in accordance with policy.
- Prevent medical record duplications or incorrect patient selection, safeguarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Communicate with physicians and clinical providers to validate or clarify information on orders, schedules, or other requirements.
- Participate in emergency preparedness, wayfinding, and provide directions or transport as needed to ensure a positive patient/customer experience.
Additional Requirements
- Comply with all policies and standards, including annual training and the UH Code of Conduct.
- Abide by requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients.
