Position Summary

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Technician is accountable for the operation of a 1.5 MGD Wastewater Treatment Plant. This facility utilizes a waste-activated sludge process, including an SBR, Belt Press, Sand Filters, and DAF. The ideal candidate will manage operations, troubleshoot equipment issues, perform minor repairs, and conduct essential lab analysis procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute all operational tasks required for the role.
  • Independently carry out preventative maintenance activities.
  • Respond to process indicators and implement necessary adjustments for abnormal conditions.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and repairs on WWTP equipment with proficiency.
  • Implement equipment modifications to enhance efficiency and reduce breakdowns.
  • Develop preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all WWTP equipment and processes.
  • Guide junior technicians in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Exhibit intermediate skill levels in various maintenance functions, including Electricity, Electronics, PLC's/HMI's, Plumbing, Mechanical, Machining, Welding, and Pneumatics/Hydraulics.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess the following:

Education

  • High School Diploma is mandatory.

Experience

  • A minimum of one (1) year of relevant on-site operating experience at a Class 1 or higher wastewater system.
  • One year of experience in food manufacturing is preferred.

Specialized Knowledge

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to analyze, read, and write reports, manuals, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with computer operating systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Basic mathematical skills and the ability to calculate averages.

Certifications

  • Idaho Wastewater Operator Class I license (WWTP Operator I) or an equivalent certification from another state is required.
