Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family & Children's Services is a recognized not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals and families through a variety of supportive programs. Our mission focuses on the well-being of children, families, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
We are currently seeking a qualified Intake and Referral Specialist to manage initial inquiries from individuals seeking our services. This role is essential in assessing needs and directing clients to the appropriate resources, particularly for those experiencing distress, crisis, or other significant challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform telephone assessments to gain a comprehensive understanding of client issues, ensuring appropriate options and referrals are provided.
- Conduct in-person assessments as necessary to further evaluate client needs.
- Utilize crisis intervention strategies (via phone and/or in-person) to ensure individuals in distress receive the necessary support, particularly for those facing suicidal thoughts, financial difficulties, or emotional turmoil.
- Provide short-term supportive counseling (via phone and/or in-person) to assist clients during potential waiting periods or for those requiring brief intervention.
- Engage in short-term case management (via phone and/or in-person) to advocate for clients needing additional support.
- Act as a client advocate, collaborating with family members and external agencies to ensure clients receive the appropriate assistance.
- Facilitate case conferences with internal and external service providers to optimize client care.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation to ensure comprehensive assessments and necessary interventions are recorded.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an accredited School of Social Work or a related Behavioral Health program.
- Proven skills in social service assessment.
- Prior experience in intake processes is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
