Lead Architect for Embedded Control Systems

Become a pivotal contributor at MIT Lincoln Laboratory within the Advanced Lasercom Systems and Operations Group. We are seeking a full-time Principal Embedded Control System Architect to spearhead the design and implementation of embedded controllers for hardware actuators and sensors integral to the Pointing, Acquisition, and Tracking (PAT) systems. This position encompasses the entire system design lifecycle, from initial concept through to deployment, including the development of real-time operating systems and ensuring effective integration for testing and operational readiness of PAT systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop embedded controllers tailored for hardware actuators and sensors
- Create real-time operating systems alongside low-level drivers
- Seamlessly integrate sensors and actuators into the overarching system architecture
- Serve as a liaison between MIT Lincoln Laboratory and industry collaborators
- Represent the laboratory at various workshops and conferences
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded systems architecture
- Proficiency in hardware interfacing, communication protocols, and sensor integration
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and representation
- Certification or experience in Systems Administration
- Proficient in Linux and associated tools
- Familiarity with Linux kernel and its configurations
- Experience with custom hardware and device drivers
- Capability to configure and maintain network switches
