Career Opportunity: Principal Embedded Control System Architect

We are seeking a dedicated Principal Embedded Control System Architect to contribute significantly to the Advanced Lasercom Systems and Operations Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. This role is pivotal in the design and development of embedded control systems for hardware actuators and sensors utilized in Pointing, Acquisition, and Tracking (PAT) systems. You will engage in system design from initial concept through to deployment, developing real-time operating systems and ensuring effective integration for testing and operational readiness of PAT systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop embedded control systems for hardware actuators and sensors
  • Create real-time operating systems and low-level drivers
  • Integrate sensors and actuators into comprehensive system architecture
  • Facilitate collaboration between MIT Lincoln Laboratory and industry partners
  • Represent the organization at various workshops and conferences
Qualifications:
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded systems architecture
  • Proficient in hardware interfacing, communication protocols, and sensor integration
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and representation
Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience or certification in Systems Administration
  • Proficient in Linux and associated tools
  • Familiarity with Linux kernel and its configurations
  • Experience with custom hardware and device drivers
  • Ability to configure and maintain network switches
