Job Summary

The Fairfax County Sheriff's Office is seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Generalist II to coordinate, direct, and manage the department's promotional examination processes for sworn personnel. This role requires a strong understanding of human resources administration and management principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and direct promotional examination processes for sworn personnel
  • Determine eligibility of candidates and process announcements
  • Solicit subject matter experts and assessors, secure test sites, and make travel arrangements
  • Interact with the county's Department of Human Resources and assist with workgroup development of promotional processes
  • Assist with various personnel-related issues, such as pay for performance, diversity plan, compensation, dual incumbency, acting capacity promotions, and requisitions
  • Utilize county and departmental information systems to track and monitor attrition rates and forecast upcoming eligible lists
  • Oversee the mentoring program, including training and developing mentors for sworn and civilian employees
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in human resource management, public administration, or a related field
  • Two years of professional-level human resources experience
  • Experience conducting job analysis, training and development, conducting employment testing processes, and working with a public safety organization
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with a public safety organization
