Job Summary

The New School is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Full-time Technician, Photography to join our team at the Parsons Making Center. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment, providing exceptional customer service, and supporting the daily operations of our photography and media resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilities Management: Oversee the daily workings of the Making Center facilities, ensuring a clean and safe working environment for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Customer Service: Provide a high level of customer service, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor and attitude in all interactions with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Work with other Making Center staff to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install various hardware and software technologies.
  • Training and Support: Assist supervisor and Making Center Leadership with training and supporting faculty and students, leading demo sessions, and creating technical documentation.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain administrative systems for scheduling, record keeping, inventories, and metrics tracking.
  • Supervision: Supervise student workers, including training, tracking accountability, and assigning tasks during shifts.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with relevant technology and developments within the field, and adapt to changes in the work environment.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree and 3 years relevant or professional experience within the industry.
  • Schedule: Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and ability to work non-traditional schedules.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of a variety of analog and digital photographic processes, technical knowledge of analog and digital technologies, and experience maintaining and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, close attention to detail, and strong organizational and time management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Webcheckout or Comparable Equipment Management Systems: Knowledge of Webcheckout or comparable equipment management systems.
  • Motion Capture and Augmented/Virtual Reality Practices: Knowledge of Motion Capture and Augmented/Virtual Reality practices.
  • Digital C Printing: Knowledge of Digital C Printing.
Work Mode

This is an on-campus position, and employees are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours.
