The Museum of Modern Art is seeking applications for a Visual Merchandising and Photography Coordinator within the Retail Department. As a vital member of the MoMA Design Store's creative team, this position offers the chance to develop exceptional digital commerce and lifestyle content in both still and motion formats. Daily tasks may include managing product samples, styling for photoshoots, planning photography campaigns, and overseeing image requests from the broader Retail team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates closely with MoMA's Retail buying team to evaluate photography requirements for each product, focusing on key features and optimal styling techniques.
  • Reviews new vendor image assets and identifies needs for photographic production.
  • Coordinates product retrieval for photography with various teams, ensuring timely returns to stock locations.
  • Conceptualizes and supervises the execution of selected campaigns and lifestyle photography.
  • Styles products for images utilized across multiple channels, including product pages, social media, print materials, emails, and store displays.
  • Works collaboratively on set with photographers to create lifestyle environments that reflect MoMA's visual identity.
  • Sources production materials, including props and set pieces.
  • Assists photographers with talent selection.
  • Coordinates bookings for freelance talent on special projects.
  • Supervises contract employees and freelancers in relation to prop management, set design, and budget adherence.
  • Monitors expenditures to remain within budget for special projects.
  • Maintains and updates the photography style guide.
  • Exhibits independent judgment regarding retail social media and e-commerce style guide policies.
  • Performs physical tasks during production, such as moving boxes and set pieces.
  • Partners with the Retail Marketing team to conceptualize, plan, and manage social media content.
  • Undertakes any other duties reasonably related to the responsibilities outlined above.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of experience producing digital photography projects for a retailer, digital stock house, or design firm, demonstrating talent as a product stylist.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines across various projects.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
  • Experience with digital asset management systems (DAM).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite basic business tools.
Supervises: Freelance production staff, including stylists, set designers, and models.

Reports to: Associate Creative Director, Retail

Dotted line to: Lead Photographer and Post Production Manager, Retail

Salary Range: Minimum of $70,000 to a maximum of $75,000 per annum
