THE POSITION

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role requires exceptional communication skills and meticulous attention to detail. The successful candidate will primarily collaborate with the management of the FanDuel Sportsbook finance team, playing a crucial role in various financial functions.

THE GAME PLAN

Each team member has a vital role to fulfill:

  • Prepare, post, and reconcile period-end closing journal entries for profit and loss and balance sheet accounts.
  • Conduct Actual vs. Budget analysis on significant business areas.
  • Review the general ledger for accurate coding.
  • Maintain monthly accrual schedules (Accrued Expenses, Fixed Assets, Prepaid, etc.).
  • Assist in developing schedules, processes, reconciliations, and flux analysis.
  • Support the implementation of best practices to streamline, standardize, and scale our operations.
  • Collaborate with management to document accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Work cross-functionally to prepare closing entries and anticipate process changes.
  • Engage with management in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities; analyze profit and loss and balance sheet for various general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with inquiries from internal and external auditors.
  • Provide financial insights to management by researching and analyzing accounting data to support key decision-making.
  • Deliver necessary financial reporting, ensuring all requests (both ad-hoc and routine) are completed promptly and accurately.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in reporting and operations.

THE STATS

What we seek in our next team member:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in all essential duties with strong attention to detail.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment with diverse individuals.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information at various organizational levels.
  • A high level of energy and adaptability to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic setting while managing tight deadlines.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort with large data volumes.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP to research and resolve complex transactions.

Preferred Qualifications (not mandatory):

  • Understanding of US Sportsbook gaming.
  • Interest in pursuing CPA certification.
  • Experience with Oracle accounting systems.
