Our Surgical Services department is robust, performing over 1,300 procedures annually across various specialties, including General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, and Podiatry.

With a legacy of over 75 years, we have evolved from a community hospital into a multi-faceted healthcare provider, operating three clinics and offering 24/7 emergency services alongside inpatient and outpatient medical/surgical care. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our significant investments in facility enhancements in recent years. Our dedicated team of over 225 employees enjoys an average tenure of eight years, contributing to our ongoing growth and expansion initiatives.

Role Summary:

The Specialty Clinic Registered Nurse is a vital nursing role responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and advocating for patients. This position entails providing outpatient services at various clinics, including general surgery and podiatry, while also coordinating surgical schedules as needed. The Specialty Clinic RN will oversee cardiac testing services, ensuring the integration and coordination of nursing services for treadmill stress tests, nuclear stress tests, and stress echocardiograms.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering nursing care across various specialties within the Specialty Clinic.
  • Assisting with surgical procedures and understanding the surgical process and postoperative care.
  • Coordinating and directing cardiac testing services.

Work Schedule: Days - Monday to Saturday, with one Saturday shift required per month.

Compensation: Starting at $29.54, with potential increases based on experience.

Qualifications:

A. Education:
1. Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
2. A valid Iowa Registered Nursing License is mandatory.
3. BCLS and ACLS certifications are essential.

B. Experience:
1. A minimum of three years of clinical experience in an acute care environment is preferred, with critical care experience being advantageous.
2. A background in surgical nursing is preferred.
3. Familiarity with surgical processes and postoperative care is ideal.

C. Skills and Competencies:
1. Understanding of stress testing principles, including stress echocardiograms and nuclear medicine procedures, or willingness to learn.
2. Proficiency in interpreting cardiac arrhythmias and recognizing ischemic changes on EKG, or willingness to train.
3. Knowledge of cardiac pathophysiology, pharmacology, and current treatment protocols.
4. Experience with specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors and defibrillators, or willingness to train.
5. Strong communication and independent decision-making abilities.
