Position Overview:

The Outpatient Specialty Clinic Registered Nurse is a professional nursing role that acts as a resource nurse, delivering high-quality patient care and advocating for patients. This position involves providing outpatient services to various clinics, including general surgery and podiatry, and coordinating surgical schedules as required. The Specialty Clinic RN will oversee cardiac testing services, ensuring the integration and coordination of nursing services for treadmill stress tests, nuclear stress tests, and stress echocardiograms at our facility. The role includes delivering nursing care across multiple specialties as needed. A solid understanding of the surgical process and typical postoperative recovery for surgical patients is essential. The RN will also assist with surgical procedures within the clinic.

Work Schedule: Days - Monday to Saturday, with one Saturday shift each month.

Compensation: Starting at $29.54, with potential increases based on experience.

Qualifications:

A. Education:
1. Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
2. A valid Iowa Registered Nursing License is mandatory.
3. BCLS and ACLS certifications are required.
B. Experience:
1. A minimum of three years of clinical experience in an acute care environment is preferred, with critical care experience being advantageous.
2. A background in surgical nursing is preferred.
3. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of surgical processes and standard postoperative recovery for surgical patients.
C. Special Skills and Abilities:
1. Familiarity with stress testing principles and guidelines, including stress echocardiograms and nuclear medicine stress testing procedures, or willingness to learn.
2. Advanced skills in interpreting cardiac arrhythmias and identifying ischemic changes on EKG, or willingness to train.
3. Understanding of cardiac pathophysiology, pharmacology, disease processes, and current treatment protocols.
4. Proficiency in using specialized equipment (e.g., cardiac monitors, treadmills, defibrillators) or willingness to train.
5. Strong communication and independent decision-making skills.
