Position Overview
This role is essential in delivering both professional and nonprofessional nursing care services as per physician directives. The Medical Assistant will undertake various Nursing Support responsibilities, including:
  • Providing fundamental care services to patients without holding an RN or LPN license.
  • Operating under the guidance of physicians and mid-level practitioners, while collaborating with registered nurses as needed.
  • Utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through vocational education and practical experience.

Work Environment
This position is typically applied to patient care and scientific/laboratory roles, requiring basic familiarity with job procedures and tools gained through prior experience.

Key Responsibilities
The following duties outline the general scope of work, though additional responsibilities may be assigned:
  1. Manage patient flow to optimize the use of providers and examination rooms, while effectively communicating any delays.
  2. Prepare medical records for patient visits, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  3. Deliver exceptional customer service in all patient interactions, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
  4. Assist patients and their families during the admission process, facilitating a smooth transition to inpatient care.
  5. Prepare examination rooms according to patient needs and assist with various medical procedures.
  6. Record vital signs and assist in the collection of specimens as required.
  7. Support billing processes by ensuring accurate documentation of services rendered.
  8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain clinic standards.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • National Certification from a recognized body.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in a medical office setting.
  • Phlebotomy Certification.
  • Proficiency in electronic patient record systems.
