Position Summary

We are currently in search of a Vice President of Surety Claims to enhance our Claims Division. This role is pivotal in collaborating with senior management to develop and implement effective policies and procedures that ensure optimal claims management while adhering to company standards. The Vice President will also oversee a portfolio of claims and offer leadership and technical support to the claims team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor team members, providing guidance on performance evaluations and disciplinary measures. Facilitate training to help staff meet their objectives. Participate in the recruitment process for new hires.
  • Establish authority levels for team members.
  • Manage the resolution of complex claims efficiently, ensuring timely service and appropriate reserve management while actively seeking recovery opportunities.
  • Negotiate and finalize claims of higher complexity within established authority limits, while managing associated Loss Adjustment Expenses.
  • In the absence of the senior management, provide support for claim assignments and inquiries from other departments.
  • Collaborate with senior management on the development and execution of departmental strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations by filing necessary fraud reports and serving as the Special Investigations Unit Coordinator, including the creation of annual training materials.
  • Represent the company at various industry association meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
This role requires a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of ten years of experience in Surety Claims, including prior leadership experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

To succeed as a Vice President of Surety Claims, candidates must demonstrate the ability to work autonomously in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite is essential. Key skills include excellent verbal and written communication, strong organizational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to handle confidential information discreetly.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:
This position necessitates prolonged periods of sitting, with occasional standing or walking. The role may involve light physical tasks, such as lifting up to 10 pounds. Ergonomic equipment is available to support employee comfort.
