Position Overview:

The Cost Estimation Specialist plays a crucial role within our estimation team, tasked with delivering accurate cost evaluations and comprehensive estimates that are essential for effective project planning and execution. In this significant position, you will work closely with experienced estimators to create initial cost assessments, analyze complex plans and specifications, and guarantee strict compliance with project standards. This role requires outstanding analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysis & Interpretation: Carefully examine and interpret construction plans and materials to produce and validate cost estimates.
  • Initial Estimation: Assist senior estimators in developing preliminary estimates for conceptual and early-stage projects.
  • Discrepancy Management: Identify and resolve differences between proposals and actual scope, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Pricing Strategy: Collaborate with estimating teams to develop detailed pricing schedules and contribute to the proposal creation process.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk evaluations related to program costs, identifying potential financial implications and offering strategic advice.
  • Reporting: Produce detailed reports that reflect economic assessments of key indicators, ensuring transparency and precision.
  • Estimate Approval: Support the estimate preapproval process by utilizing available project scope information and historical data.
  • Post-Completion Analysis: Execute cost analysis on finalized projects, providing insights into competitive bidding and contract negotiations.
  • Model Creation: Develop and maintain robust cost estimation models to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Documentation: Prepare and draft technical reports, subcontracts, purchase orders, project updates, and proposals with a high degree of accuracy and clarity.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Construction Management, Operations Research, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0-5 years of relevant experience in a junior estimating role is preferred; industry certifications are a plus.
  • Skills & Abilities: Proven organizational skills and an exceptional attention to detail. Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to work collaboratively within a team and independently with minimal oversight.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in interpreting complex plans and construction materials; skilled in relevant software applications.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly and effectively.
