Employment Type: Part-time, 48 hours per pay period, eligible for benefits

As a Respiratory Care Specialist, you will report to the Manager of Respiratory Care and will be responsible for delivering high-quality, individualized care to patients and their families. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care services, ensuring continuity of care across various services offered by RML. Your role will focus on providing appropriate care to adult and geriatric patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate the RML REACH (Service Excellence) culture through respectful and professional interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Manage all respiratory care services for assigned patients, responding to physician orders, participating in emergency situations, and performing necessary assessments and treatments.
  • Exhibit clinical proficiency by applying respiratory knowledge and adhering to the scope of practice as defined by state regulations.
  • Implement medical treatment plans by executing physician orders and seeking clarification when necessary.
  • Conduct blood gas and electrolyte analyses as required, ensuring accurate reporting and specimen management.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide patient-centered care, participating in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient progress.
  • Document patient conditions and interventions thoroughly, ensuring accurate communication with the healthcare team.
  • Support a safe clinical environment by adhering to infection control protocols and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to the educational development of healthcare students and team members.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Certification (CRT) or registration (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care, or eligibility to take the CRT exam within six months of hire.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Illinois state licensure required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • ACLS certification.
  • Recent experience in acute patient care, particularly with adult patients requiring mechanical ventilation.
Working Environment:

This position is performed in a patient care setting, with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
