Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate the RML REACH (Service Excellence) culture through respectful and professional interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Manage all respiratory care services for assigned patients, responding to physician orders, participating in emergency situations, and performing necessary assessments and treatments.
- Exhibit clinical proficiency by applying respiratory knowledge and adhering to the scope of practice as defined by state regulations.
- Implement medical treatment plans by executing physician orders and seeking clarification when necessary.
- Conduct blood gas and electrolyte analyses as required, ensuring accurate reporting and specimen management.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide patient-centered care, participating in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient progress.
- Document patient conditions and interventions thoroughly, ensuring accurate communication with the healthcare team.
- Support a safe clinical environment by adhering to infection control protocols and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to the educational development of healthcare students and team members.
Minimum Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
- Certification (CRT) or registration (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care, or eligibility to take the CRT exam within six months of hire.
- Current CPR certification.
- Illinois state licensure required.
- ACLS certification.
- Recent experience in acute patient care, particularly with adult patients requiring mechanical ventilation.
This position is performed in a patient care setting, with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
