About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Vice President, Regional Workforce Development to lead our UpSkill Houston initiative. This is a unique opportunity to drive meaningful change in the region's workforce and education systems, and to contribute to the development of a skilled workforce that supports the growth and competitiveness of the regional economy.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in workforce development, education, and social services, with experience in leading cross-functional teams and developing strategic partnerships. They will be able to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including employers, educators, and community leaders, and will have a proven track record of driving innovation and impact in their previous roles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of UpSkill Houston's strategic plan, working closely with the executive committee and staff to drive action and impact.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including employers, educators, and community leaders, to leverage and coordinate individual actions for greater impact.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to address the region's workforce and education challenges, including the development of new programs and services.
  • Manage the performance and support the professional development of the UpSkill Houston team, including direct and indirect reports.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with UpSkill Houston's current and prospective funders, crafting compelling cases for support and ensuring grants and investments are effectively managed.
Requirements
  • 15 years of work experience within corporations, educational institutions, philanthropy, trade associations, community-based social service organizations, or other relevant organizations.
  • Experience managing, influencing, and working with a variety of stakeholders on strategy development and execution with impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, facilitate, and maintain relationships across sectors and ideologies, and to build consensus that brings diverse groups together to achieve common goals.
  • Broad subject matter expertise in workforce development and education systems, talent and skills development, and social service supports and delivery.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to develop presentations and present to and/or interact with outside entities.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a base salary, benefits, and vacation time. The position is based in Houston, Texas, and requires occasional travel to represent the Partnership at relevant functions, seminars, and conferences.
