Position Summary:
This role is crucial in ensuring the thorough sanitation of production equipment and facilities. The Sanitation Operations Manager supervises sanitation personnel, conducts cleaning and inspections of equipment in accordance with established guidelines, and provides training to staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume accountability for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Oversee the sanitation of both the interior and exterior of the facility.
  • Manage the activities of sanitation and janitorial staff.
  • Organize and lead the sanitation team efficiently to optimize resource use.
  • Monitor cleanliness and sanitation standards of the plant, equipment, and components.
  • Analyze trends to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Communicate any issues or potential concerns to management promptly.
  • Lead a cross-functional sanitation team.
  • Accompany inspectors during pre-operational assessments.
  • Participate in third-party and regulatory audits.
  • Conduct safety and educational training sessions.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of sanitation supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards at all times.
  • Report any conditions or practices that may compromise food safety and quality.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of three years of successful experience in sanitation within the food industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret various documents, including business publications and regulatory guidelines.
  • Proficient in writing reports and business correspondence.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Problem-solving abilities in diverse situations.
  • Familiarity with writing Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Strong awareness of safety protocols and chemical usage.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience with USDA regulations is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles is preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is an asset.
