Job Title: Sanitation Supervisor

Michael Foods, Inc. is a leading food processing and distribution company with a strong commitment to quality and safety. We are seeking a highly skilled Sanitation Supervisor to join our team in Norwalk, Iowa.

Job Summary:

The Sanitation Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the proper sanitation of our production equipment and facilities. This includes supervising sanitation employees, cleaning and inspecting equipment, and training employees to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise sanitation employees to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Clean and inspect equipment to maintain a high level of sanitation and quality.
  • Train employees on sanitation procedures and ensure they understand the importance of maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Monitor plant, equipment, and parts for cleanliness and proper sanitation.
  • Track trends to identify areas for improvement and implement actions to address these areas.
  • Communicate issues or potential issues to management.
  • Lead cross-functional sanitation teams.
  • Accompany USDA inspectors during pre-op inspections.
  • Participate in 3rd party and regulatory audits.
  • Conduct safety and educational training.
  • Inventory and order sanitation supplies.
  • Ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three successful years working in sanitation in the food industry.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations.
  • Ability to respond to questions from internal/external customers/vendors at all levels including management.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
  • Understanding and the ability to write SSOP's.
  • Keen awareness and enforcement of safety procedures and precautions.
  • Knowledge of chemicals and chemical usage.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate both verbal and written.
  • Working computer knowledge specifically in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with USDA is a plus.
  • Knowledge of CIP Preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools & techniques preferred.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish preferred.
